Glad to hear you're OK. We came through good. Lost power for 30 hrs. but that was the worst of it. Fortunately I woke up around 6:00 AM and realized that we had lost the power, so when I got down to the basement, the water had only risen to the top of the trap pit. Goddam' that pump of mine, having the nerve to not work just because there wasn't any power!!
Anyway, we had to go doen and do some bucket brigade work for a few hrs at 45min. intervals, but it only took a bout 7 or 8 minutes apiece. Once the rain stopped around 10:00 AM, everything was fine.
Let's see, my Coleman LED lanterns were a good investment, and so were the $1.25 apiece K-Mart Multipurpose 5 gallon buckets I had bought several months ago, and the little am/fm 9band SW radio that I bought from CountyComm last year for like $16.00. The only thing I fucked up on was that I didn't have as many D sized batteries as I thought I did. But I was able to take care of that the same day after things cleared up a little.
Believe it or not, there are still some small pockets here in NYC that haven't gotten their power back yet also.
We still have just under 28,000 homes without power down here. My son had school one day this week. Apparently the rocket scientists with the power company down here took some areas down and when they brought them back up, they blew up something. This has been going on in several areas.
So, did you get the little CountyComm radio with the LED and it takes a single AA batt? How is the reception with that, if so?
Did you hear that one story, I think it was over in Joisey, someone selling "D" batts for like $20.00 a piece or some shit? 8-)
It's LED, and uses 2 AA batteries. It's 4.5" x 3" x 1". It's a Kaito model 859. I don't think they sell it anymore. I picked it up about 2 years ago for $16.00 + s&h. As for the D batteries for $20, I could believe it. I paid $5.00 for 2-packs by me in Staten Island. I had to get them in a little Deli/Convenience store because all the big box stores, CVS Walgreens etc., were sold out. Beggars can't be choosers. I could have sworn I had more spare D batts., but I was wrong. I had to raid the spare set I keep in one of my cars for the 4-cell flashlight I keep in it.

Hey Don,
Are you and the family OK? It's been a few days now, inquiring minds want to know.
J,
Hey! Yeah, we're all right! How did you fine folks do?
Some people are still without power down here, believe it or not.

And now let's see what Katia is going to do.
